Who is afraid of technology?

OR Embrace Technology

Technology will not replace teachers but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational. George Couros

In the age of digital transformation, everything is moving from technology enabled to technology centric. Some teachers find this extremely intimidating since they are not digital natives as their students. We lived our childhood without technology, grew up and witnessed the transition, then had to educate ourselves about technology. However, teachers should realize that the illiterate of the 21st century as Alvin Toffler declares “will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” We, teachers, have to continuously learn new pedagogies, unlearn old conventional teaching methodologies and relearn the new digitized methods that we perceive as intimidating since we are not technologically savvy. Teachers should embrace technology to bring about requisite change.

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an abrupt shift from on-site teaching to virtual teaching. Teachers have had to grapple with the incredibly difficult challenge posed by the current universal crisis. It has been a very tough yet beneficial experience and has proved that teachers can galvanize their efforts to stay connected and keep the wheels turning!
